Our story
Marame is a vision born out of years of my personal frustration in trying to create a wardrobe built around core, timeless, versatile pieces that were designed to work together. Not just in terms of style, but also in fit, colour, quality, and wearability.
I had spent so much time searching for good quality staple items for my wardrobe that felt great on, looked effortless, and could be styled to create lots of different looks for every occasion or situation. I was always looking for flattering shapes. I wanted smart pairings, classic cuts, complementary colours, and soft, textured, high-quality fabrics that looked as good as the first time I wore them — every time I wore them. I was sure that there must be many other people who, like me, wanted to make every item in their wardrobe work for them. One ‘go-to’ brand that could be relied upon every time. In spite of my efforts, though, I couldn’t find it, so because I have always been drawn to a challenge, I pulled an amazing team together who felt as passionately about the concept as I did and decided to create it.
THE MARAME APPROACH
Marame is built around the idea of a purposeful wardrobe, pieces that make getting dressed easier, not harder. Clothes that don’t rely on trends to feel relevant. Staples you can mix, match, and re-style without second-guessing. Garments that feel as good as they look, and that are always an option in your wardrobe.
Every piece we create is designed with intention, made to last, and produced responsibly. We have put thought into everything, from the fabric, fit and finish, to the experience of wearing it, living in it, and loving it for years to come.
2.5 YEARS, 452 SAMPLES, AND ONE VERY SPECIFIC BUTTON
Creating Marame has been a two-and-a-half-year journey of obsessive detail and determination. We wanted every part of the collection to feel considered. This has meant spending months and months researching fabrics from mills around the world, comparing swatches under different light, testing weights, drapes, and textures until we found the right ones.
We said no, a lot. To suppliers who didn’t meet our standards. To manufacturers who couldn’t guarantee ethical and sustainable practices. To materials that looked good but didn’t wear well. To the quality and feel of our packaging. After what has at times been quite literally a global search, we finally found production partners who genuinely care about quality and craft, and it shows.
From there, we worked, reworked, and worked some more. Patterns were drafted, redrafted, and tested across different body types to ensure every piece fitted how it should. We laboured over small details, the curve of a neckline, the depth of a hem, the exact weight of a button (yes, that happened). At one point, we had over 40 iterations of a single design.
It has been a long and intense journey, but we wanted to put the effort in to create a brand that people will always feel good in.
