OUR STORY
CONSIDERED CLOTHING. DESIGNED FOR REAL LIFE.
MARAME began with a simple frustration.
I wanted to build a wardrobe around fewer, better pieces. Clothes that felt considered, worked together and could be relied on season after season.
I could find individual pieces I loved, but rarely one place where fit, fabric, colour, quality and wearability had all been thought about together.
I wanted flattering shapes. Great fabrics. Colours that complemented one another. Pieces that could be worn in different ways and still feel relevant years later.
So I decided to build it.
WHY MARAME EXISTS
From the beginning, MARAME has been about creating a wardrobe, not simply a collection.
We design pieces to work together. Shapes that can be styled in different ways. Colours that complement one another. Fabrics chosen not only for how they look, but for how they feel, move and live.
We are not interested in creating something simply because it is new.
Every piece has to earn its place.
It should solve a problem, add something useful or become the kind of item you instinctively reach for because you know it works.
That principle has remained at the heart of MARAME as the brand has grown.
INDEPENDENT BY DESIGN
MARAME is an independent, founder-led British brand.
There is no large fashion group behind us. No private equity fund. No external investors.
The business has been independently funded from the beginning and remains led by the same belief it started with: that there was space to build a different kind of fashion brand.
That independence matters.
We do not have the resources, buying power or enormous teams of a global fashion house. We cannot take our customers for granted and we do not want to.
Every order matters. Every review matters. Every recommendation matters.
When MARAME publicly launched in June 2025, there was no guarantee that the idea would work.
Building any new business is difficult. Building an independent fashion brand from the ground up, developing original product, manufacturing predominantly in Europe and competing for attention alongside some of the world's largest fashion businesses made the challenge greater still.
But people believed in what we were building.
In a little over a year, MARAME grew from an idea years in the making to more than £1 million in sales and over 14,000 customer orders.
We are incredibly proud of those numbers, but not because of the numbers themselves.
They represent thousands of people choosing to support an independent brand.
People taking a chance on us for their first order. Coming back for their second, third or tenth. Recommending us to friends. Sending feedback. Sharing MARAME with people who had never heard of us.
It is because of that support that we are still here, still independent and able to keep building.
DESIGNED AROUND REAL LIFE
As MARAME has grown, so has our understanding of what considered clothing really means.
It is not enough for something to look good on a model or work perfectly on a sample rail.
Great clothing has to work on real people, with different bodies, different proportions and different lives.
In 2026, Melissa Murrell joined MARAME as our Women's Style Director.
After more than two decades styling women, Melissa had spent years seeing first-hand the same frustrations that originally led to MARAME being created.
Clothes that were almost right, but finished in the wrong place. Trousers that worked for one height but not another. Silhouettes that looked beautiful on a hanger but did nothing for the person wearing them.
Her philosophy was remarkably close to ours: clothing should work for the person wearing it, not the other way around.
That thinking now runs through our womenswear.
From the overall silhouette of a garment to details such as adjustable trouser lengths, removable shoulder pads, considered necklines, sleeve proportions and where a piece finishes on the body.
It is design informed by real styling experience.
Across both womenswear and menswear, the objective remains the same.
To create clothing that makes getting dressed easier and gives you more possibilities from the pieces you already own.
MADE WITH INTENTION
The smallest details matter to us.
The weight of a fabric. The fall of a trouser. The position of a seam. The depth of a neckline. The hand feel of a knit. The exact shade of a colour.
Sometimes those details take far longer to get right than anyone will ever know.
That is fine with us.
Most of our clothing is made in Portugal, where we work with specialist manufacturers and craftspeople to turn our ideas into finished garments.
Producing close to home allows us to be involved throughout the development process, work in smaller quantities and keep refining until a product feels right.
There will always be easier ways to make clothes.
We are more interested in making them properly.
BUILT BY LISTENING
Perhaps the biggest change since MARAME launched is that the brand is no longer shaped by us alone.
It is shaped by the people wearing it.
We listen closely to what our customers tell us. What they love. What they wear repeatedly. What could fit better. What they wish existed. What they struggle to find elsewhere.
That feedback influences the products we improve, the products we develop and sometimes the products we decide not to make at all.
Our job is not to tell people how they should dress.
It is to create better options for how they already live.
THE STORY SO FAR
MARAME publicly launched in June 2025 after years of development.
Since then, what started as an idea for a more considered wardrobe has grown into an expanding world of womenswear, menswear, footwear and fragrance, supported by a community we could only have imagined when this began.
The team has grown too, bringing together experience across styling, product development, manufacturing and design.
But growth has never been the objective for its own sake.
We want to grow because it allows us to make better products, work with better people, reach more customers and continue building something we believe deserves to exist.
Not because the fashion industry needs more clothes.
Because we believe there is still room for better ones.
WHAT COMES NEXT
We are still learning.
We will get things wrong. We will change things. We will continue refining the products we already make and developing new ones where we believe they genuinely add something.
We will keep listening to the people who wear MARAME.
And we intend to remain every bit as obsessive about the details as we were when nobody knew our name.
We do not want to build a brand that simply makes more.
We want to build one you trust more.
MARAME is still independent. Still founder-led. Still being built.
And if you have bought something from us, told somebody about us, left us feedback or simply followed the journey, you are part of the reason why.
Thank you for backing us.
We are only getting started.
